How to Post a Video to Instagram Using a Desktop Computer
It is possible to upload videos to Instagram on your desktop; this makes it possible to share professionally shot videos that aren’t easily accessible on your smartphone. You can also upload marketing videos or videos you have received from a freelancer or even your videography team in-house.
Here’s how you can post videos to Instagram from any browser.
1. Visit the Instagram website with your preferred internet browser.
Once you’ve logged in, sign in with your credentials.
Like you would do when you post an image, Just like you would do, click the + icon on the top menu section of the Instagram feed.
3. Select “Select from computer” to upload your files.

Select the video file on the computer. We suggest you upload an MP4 file to ensure compatibility.
When your film is under 10 minutes long, the file size shouldn’t be greater than 650MB. However, for videos that last between 10 minutes and 60 mins (which is the longest length), it is recommended to strive for a file size less than 3.6GB. Learn more about Instagram’s requirements for video on this page.
4. Adjust the size of your video and add additional media if you want.

Instagram provides two options to alter your video’s aspect ratio and add additional media. Instagram also allows you to zoom in on the image when it comes to photos. Unfortunately, this feature isn’t available for videos.
If you’re uploading a video that’s horizontal, We recommend using the 16:9 aspect ratio to ensure that it doesn’t cut off. However, if you’re concerned about how the feed will look, you should stick to the 1:1 ratio. This way, there won’t be any white space when users go to your feed.
5. Select a cover photo, trim the video, and then switch to sound options.

After that, you can select the cover image (the image viewers see before clicking “Play”). You can choose to upload a cover image that is custom for the video. You may also reduce the length of the video and switch the audio off if you want to.
6. Write captions and tag other users. Include alt text and toggle the commenting option.

On the following screen, you will be able to create a caption for your video, label anyone within the clip, include alt text and then disable commenting.
Done! Now you’ve uploaded your video on Instagram.
