Although Google Slides’ name might be familiar, however, we are aware that most of you will not have the time to explore Google Slides’ capabilities. However, don’t fret! This guide will explain all you must be aware of Google Slides – from the fundamentals to the most sophisticated features – and equip you with the necessary knowledge to quickly and effortlessly create amazing slides.
What are Google slides
Google Slides (formerly named Google Presentations) is a free presentation web-based application. It offers nearly all the capabilities of a conventional presentation program, like Microsoft PowerPoint. Google Slides offers the benefit of cloud storage and cloud storage. Users’ documents are automatically saved and can be retrieved even if the computer’s hard disk and SSD are damaged.
Google Slides Features include:
- The capability to add images, text in format, Animations, images, or other forms of media.

- The possibility of editing the transitions between slides.
- Collaboration editing allows sharing between devices, computers, and users.
How to create google slides presentations
1. Go to the Google home page by clicking on the grid located on the upper-right edge. From there you can, you can click the Drive icon. You’ll be taken to a login page if you’re registered; otherwise, you will be directed directly to the Drive.
2. From your Drive, Click on the blue New button located on the left side of the screen. Next, choose “Google Slides” from the dropdown menu.
To see more options, simply hover over the arrow to the right side on your Google Slides option, where smaller dropdown menus will pop up. You can choose to create a slide using templates or a blank slide.
3. If you’re on the slide page, click the option above to make an entirely new slide. It is possible to press the white square with the plus sign to create the slide to be blank or select one from the template. Next, choose “the Template Gallery option, where you will see more templates.
4. Create a slide name and choose the theme. Additionally, you’ll be asked to choose the theme you want to use for your presentation. For example, this demo will be using its “Luxe” theme. To give it a name, click “Untitled” on the top of your screen “Untitled” text on the top of the page to change its name. The name will be displayed within the web browser’s bar when you or someone else watches the presentation.
Be sure to include an appropriate title and subtitle when you click where you’re asked to enter the text.
5. Create new slides. On the top left corner, you will find a small + button. Click this button to make your default body and title slide. If you prefer a different design, just click the small down arrow directly close. This will bring you to the dropdown menu with numerous layouts to suit your needs.
You can also modify the layout of a slide already in use by selecting the layout option on the upper bar of editing.
6. Insert images. Navigate to the upper editing bar and select insert. There, you will find Images within the dropdown menu. A window will open with different options for images. You can upload an image directly from your computer, snap an image using your webcam, copy an image’s URL, locate images from your Google albums of photos, locate an image from your computer or look for images online using Google LIFE or pictures from stock.
7. Create text. If you wish to create a text box, simply click the box that has a “T” in the upper bar of editing (this is the case if you do not currently have a space that has the “click to add text” prompt). Edit the text’s font size and font and add bold underlined, italic, or bold, and all three are directly between one another in the edit bar. You can also alter the alignment and spacing available in the bar for editing. Click on the option to expand, which is located on the right side on the right side of the bar, to alter the indent, and then add a number or bulleted lists.
8. Create an animation. Right-click on the text or image you’d like to first animate, then go to the end of the menu. There it is titled “Animate”. The element you have selected will have a blue highlight. Then, click the rectangle with the word Fade In to show the standard animation. Next, choose your desired animation in the dropdown menu. Under it is a second rectangle that reads “On click” and clicks to select if you wish the animation to happen either manually or automatically. You can decide whether you want to be animated by recommended paragraphs for lists with bullets. You can alter how fast each animated sequence is triggered by moving the bar.
When you add animations to every element by clicking on”+ Select an object to animate” or the blue “+ Select an object to animate,” the animations will build up. Click on each to modify it.
You can change the transition between slides by selecting the standard “Slide: No transition” on the upper right-hand sidebar. Then, you can decide whether to apply the transition to all slides or just one slide.
You can preview your animations by clicking Play at the end of the bar.
To stop an animation, click the tiny x on its rectangular and drag it upwards or downwards to alter the sequence.
9. After you have finished editing, hit “share” to modify the permissions of your presentation. First, find the those you wish to share it with them by name or email addresses, then edit permissions by pressing the pencil icon beside it. They can then review it, edit it, or even comment on it. When you click the share button, it will give you your unique presentation link that can be accessed by clicking “Get shareable link.” Once you’re done clicking Done, you will be able to close the window.
10. Check out the final version by clicking “Present” in the upper right-hand corner. Next, move between slides using the arrow keys or Arrows on the lower left of the page. Finally, click the squiggle on the bottom of the screen to turn on the laser pointer. Also, click four arrows to spread out to display Fullscreen, the name of the slide you are viewing for navigating to a new slide, and the gear for setting. It is also possible to enable presenter view, which lets you accept questions from the audience and view the speaker’s notes.
How to use Google Slides Offline
In beta form in late April, The new version will be available from late April. In addition, there’s a brand new method of accessing Google Slides when you’re offline or have weak internet connectivity.
It is the first thing to do. Turn on offline access within the settings of your Drive settings.
How do you make offline access possible for Google Slides
- Visit Google Drive. Go to Google Drive and click the gear icon in the upper right corner.
- Go to Settings > General and then choose “Sync Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drawings files to this computer” so that you can edit offline.
- It is then possible to right-click any file on Google Drive and select “Available offline” from the menu (while connected to the internet).
- You’ll need the no-cost Chrome Google Docs Offline extension to open offline documents.
How to Insert a Video to a google slide
To add a video that isn’t on YouTube, you must have it saved to the Google Drive account.
- Access Google Drive.
- Drag the video into Google Drive or click New Upload Files. Find the file on your computer and then upload the file to Google Drive.
- Open your presentation within Google Slides and select the slide you would like to insert the video.
- Click Insert – Video. The new screen will appear. You’ll see the videos you’ve stored or shared through or shared with your Google Drive account in the Google Drive tab. Select the video you wish to upload, and then click Choose. Your video is uploaded to the slide, and then you can alter it to your preference.
How to add gifs to google slides
Select the slide you would like to modify. Next, navigate to the slide that you wish to include the GIF. Ensure there’s enough space to accommodate the GIF, which may require changing the layout of the slide.
Click insert in the main menu. Navigate to the top of the page, select “Insert,” and click the ” Insert” tab. Next, select “Upload from computer” to locate the stored GIF within the cloud or local storage. Then click “Open” to insert the GIF.
Change or resize The GIF. If desirable, you may alter the dimensions and position of the GIF on the slide. To do this, just click on and then drag the GIF to the corner of your GIF to change its dimensions.
